The Sims Medieval Guide to Foreign Kingdoms

Annexing Foreign Lands, Forming Alliances, and Loyalty Benefits

The Sims Medieval Territory Map

Allying with foreign countries will give your Kingdom passive bonuses in a variety of categories. In this Guide to Foreign Lands, I'll list all of the territories you can Annex and what benefits are provided when you do so.

The order in which you Ally with these Kingdoms can alter your Kingdom's progress in various areas. To read my recommendations, have a look at our Kingdom Ambitions Tips.

How to Annex other Kingdoms
In order to get benefits from other lands, you must follow a multi-step process. Here's the list of things you must do to get these bonuses. The process starts in Kingdom Mode's Territory Map.

  1. Click Make Ally: Select a nation and pick the little red button to make a country your Ally. This costs some RP but is worth it, especially if you already know you want their particular benefit. At this stage, your Merchant can trade with this country.
  2. Complete the Annex Quest: Every Kingdom you Ally has a special quest which will unlock their benefits. I'll call this the Annex quest. When you complete it, you've annexed the nation and can get their specials. The Annex quest should appear automatically after you Ally with that nation, even if you don't meet the hero or building requirements.
  3. Maintain Loyalty through Edicts and Patrols: When you've completed their special Quest, you'll now have the benefits and must maintain loyalty in order to keep them. The bar will move faster to the left (toward rebellion) when you are using the Knight, Spy, or Monarch as they alone possess the ability to influence it positively. The game assumes you should take some of your time with those Heroes to improve foreign relations.

The "friends bar" for that country has to move very far into rebellion before you lose their benefits. So don't freak out if it turns red, just resolve to go in with a Knight, Spy, or Monarch and improve relations.

Note that some countries require a minimum amount of Renown before you can Ally with them and begin the process. I'll note those. On Trades the first item is what you need in the cargo hold, the second is what you'll get in return. If it takes 2 mushrooms to get a wood, if you put 4 mushrooms, you'll receive 2 wood. Only Merchants can access the ship's cargo hold and initiate these trades.

Every country will import goods of a specific type. Have your Merchant load the boat with Imports and they'll get Simoles greater than the regular selling price in return.

Note the items you can get by importing: darkstone, tablet of the watcher, etc. These can be traded multiple times and transformed into other items by trade. Use Control + F to search this page and type in what you have. You may get to turn it into something else, entirely, like a Mystic Metal Fragment, Unicorn Horn, etc.

Effenmont and Gastrobury
These two island nations must be discovered before you can begin the process and make them an Ally with RP. Buy a map to either country at the Village Shoppe and select the hero with the item and have them go to the Dock. They'll sail to the new territory and unlock it on the territory map.
