Things to do in The Sims Medieval

A List of Activities Sim Heroes Can Perform

The Sims Medieval comes with a lot of activities Sims can perform in-game to advance their progress as Heroes, have fun, and be productive. This guide will be a comprehensive list of things to do in the game and how they'll help your Sims. Some actions are determined by Traits and specific Hero Professions. I'll not get into that, but focus on universal actions Sims can take, or at least the very common.

Collect Wildflowers - While only the Spy, Physician, and Wizard can collect all Herb types, any Sim can discover and collect Wildflowers. They don't bring in much money, but you can do this to reveal them for later Heroes and get seeds to make Seed Porridge, which is better than gruel. Pass your extras on to a Merchant who can sell the goods to Tredony to make some cash.

Cook and Brew - All Sims have to eat. You can cook on three objects: Ovens, Pots, and the Spit. Meals off a variety of buffs. Sims can also brew ale and wine which will get them tipsy and improve their moods. Just don't over-do it! Check out the Recipe List for more information on the buffs you'll receive.

Daily Responsibilities - All Heroes get Daily Responsibilities each day at 9am. These need to be done or the Sim will feel down. Completing these DRs will give them a sense of fulfillment and a better mood. They provide some of the best buffs in the game if you can knock them out quickly.

Decorate the Home - Upgrade every bit of your Sim's domain to improve their mood while they're at home doing their job. This will give them a focus buff while working, and it gives you something to do with all those Simoles. Improve their quality of life. It's also much more visually appealing for the player.

Feed the Beast or Jump in the Pit - Head to the Pit of Judgment with some red meat and you can feed the beast, which will give a positive buff for 24 hours, although it's only +5. This helps though, as many actions in the game based on your Sim's focus. If you feed him enough, your Sim might just befriend the pit monster. Jumping in the pit will risk life and limb, but can give parts of the Legendary Doomsword which can be forged by a Blacksmith. They'll also get XP. If your Sim has befriended the beast, they won't get killed and will actually play. Save your game or you may get eaten and meet the Grim Reaper.

Find Love - While Marriage and relationships are less important in the Sims Medieval than other games in the franchise, there is still some value to pursuing romance. Falling in love and being with their significant other can make Sims happy. If two Sims woohoo and make a baby, the child will one day grow up to replace mom or dad in their job. They'll also inherit all of the items in their inventory.

Fish - All Sims can go Fishing. They can catch fish for money and cooking recipes. Click on the little bubbles along streams and the beach. Some spots are better than others. Only the Physician can fish from the green areas, which have Leeches.

Gain Levels - Read our Hero Guides to learn about the best ways for Sims to gain experience. Many of the jobs gets much more interesting the better the Sim has practiced. New abilities and actions will unlock and you'll be able to craft more interesting items. In every case, it will increase the Hero's income as well making better living affordable.

Get Down with the Fiddle - All Sims can play the Fiddle, while the Bard has their lute. This is a fun activity and can be accessed by purchasing a fiddle from the Village Shoppe for $200. Queue up about six songs and they'll get a positive buff. It takes a lot of play in order to get the benefits of having fun, but once you're there it provides one of the best mood-boosters in the game.

Give to Other Heroes - If your Sim has something they don't need, you can head to their inventory and drag the item on top of another Hero you've created. This is the best way to pass resources along. If your Spy comes across some metal they don't need, why not pass it on to the Blacksmith to craft something later?

Go Shopping - Head to the Village Shoppe, Blacksmith, Market, Clinic, or Wizard's Tower to purchase wares. The goods available vary, with the Merchant and Village Shoppe offering the most broad selection. Blacksmiths, Wizards, and Physicians will sell better items as their levels increase.

Gussy Up - Unless the Sim is puny, they'll enjoy looking at themselves in a mirror and gussying up to improve mood. Click the mirror, gussy up, and they'll get a buff for several hours. It's one more little thing they can do daily to be more successful.

Hear a Sermon - Kingdoms with a Jacoban or Peteran church can attend sermons to help their mood, and even convert to one of these two faiths.

Hunt - Several heroes my Hunt by clicking on the Forest. This will give them some high quality meat and experience in their jobs. Use that meat to cook better meals and Improve Focus

Play Cards - Sims can play cards to have fun and gamble. Gambling's not only for compulsive gamblers. Sometimes you can win big at the game. Try drinking a Potion of Luck bought from a Wizard before getting into a game.

Play Kingball - Once you've bought a Kingball court for 30 RP, your Sims can take on the game of Kingball. Sims can get better at this by doing it often, and will win more matches if you buy them a better paddle from the Village Shoppe or Blacksmith.

Pursue that Quest - Quests are the backbone of this game. Try to do at least one Quest step per day. This will keep your Sim making progress, earn them XP and bring vast rewards to your Kingdom.

Read a Book - Thankfully, your Sims are literate and can read books. This will give them a focus buff when they finish it, which is long and strong. A great way to boost their mood.

Sail the High Seas - Many Sims get activities at Sea by clicking the Docks. This can lead to experience and treasure. If you get the option to divvy up the loot at any time, do so as this will get you a Mystic Metal Fragment used in crafting.

Swordfight - Spies, Wizards, and your King or Queen can all engage in Sword fighting. This will earn them experience. Equip your Sim with gear that has higher Power and Defense ratings to improve their odds in combat.

Take a Bath - Even though The Sims Medieval lacks a hygiene meter, you should still have them bathe once in a while. Doing so will give them a positive buff from feeling clean. It's one more way to boost your Hero's focus throughout the day.

Take a Stroll in the Woods - This will send a Sim off on a nice walk in the woods, and they'll often get a long and powerful focus buff for doing so. Occasionally, they'll be met with random events that can lead to treasures like Mystic Metal Fragments, Food, Herbs, and Gold or Experience. You may even find Renown for your Kingdom at times if you do the right thing.

Use the Pot-ty - Once a day your Sim can get a buff from being relieved by using their chamber pot. There's no bladder need, but that doesn't mean Sims don't want to 'go' once in a while.

Whittle - Sims can whittle. Click the Sim and the option should be there. They'll sit down and carve something out of their endless supply of wood blocks. You can sell these items by dragging them onto the sell box in the Inventory screen. At first, they're not worth much but Sims can become more skilled and make some decent money by selling their more advanced crafts.
